Trekking? in the jungle? no thanks... i did it once back in junior high school but it was a long time ago.. Not because i dont enjoy walking, i really do, i love jogging and walking around the city every weekend. What makes me scared the most is the "SNAKE". I dont know why lately i've been dreaming about snakes quite a lot, and when i thought about it, it 's like the snake could hear my thoughts, they will appear right in front of me. I feel like i could speak parseltongue like Harry Potter or Tom Riddle did. Well ignore that last one, i'm just a weirdo :D

Look at that...!! Isn't it beautiful?? |
Since i have met a lot of tourists here in
Gorontalo, after
Togeans and Visa extension, second favourite question they've been asking me about is the
Lombongo Waterfall which i have no idea what it's like. I did explain fairly to them how to get there and who to contact whenever they need any help or information. But again, i hate to tell stories or something to people without experience it myself. So when i have 3 boys from couchsurfing (Jan, Michal and David) came to town and they want to spend 4 days exploring Gorontalo, i asked my friends to come along with us because they have never been there as well, i feel like this is it, just in time for a little adventure in the jungle. The only thing that bothers me is the idea that there might be chances to bump into a snake along the path but it will be less terrified when you have a group of 12 tag along with you :D
We went there on sunday morning by motorcycle, it takes less than an hour from the city to the village. If you go by Bentor (Becak Motor) they will charge you for 150 thousand rupiahs for the round trip. At the gate, we paid for 5 thousand rupiahs each. If you feel like you need help to get into the jungle, ask for Mr. Harto and he will guide you all the way to the waterfall. We do pay him for 150 thousands rupiahs for his service, its not always about money, we just want to help him somehow , to make living out of it. But if you wanted to go by your self, that's fine.

After 2 hours of walking thru the trees, relaxing sounds of flowing water, the crickets and of course couple of snakes crossing our paths... There it is, the waterfall...standing tall gracefully.. I was stunned and amazed by it's beauty.

Lombongo Waterfall |
We climbed the rock to get closer to it and throw ourselves in it... the water is so cold and refreshing... we swim and laugh and take a lot of picture. I conquered my fear of snakes just to get here, and it paid off... If only everyone in this town could see this, no need artificial entertainment or amusement park, nature has provided everything.. All we have to do is to wander and discover... so for those of you who have disconnected yourself from the natural world, find your way back... it's easy and convenient, it's never too late... Nature will always be there to welcome you home
